Q1. How do I access web-based email? Simply go to http://www.yourdomain.com/mail, where yourdomain.com is the domain name of your real web site. When logging in, enter your email address as the username. [BACK]
Q2. How do I configure Microsoft Outlook or Netscape to receive my domain's email? Here is the information you will need to set up your email client:
- Your email address: xxxxx@yourdomain.com (where xxxxx is your account username, and yourdomain.com is the real domain name of your site.
- Mail server type: POP3 (IMAP is also supported - if you want to use IMAP, please be sure to also read the answer to the question, "Is IMAP supported?"
- Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is the real domain name of your site)
- Outgoing/SMTP mail server: mail.yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is the real domain name of your site)
- Account name: username@yourdomain.com (where username@yourdomain.com is your actual username and domain name)
- Password: (enter your password)
The way you create an email account on your computer depends on the
program you are using. Below are instructions on how to accomplish
these tasks for Outlook and Netscape, the two most commonly used email
clients.

- Click on the "+" next to Mail & Newsgroups to expand that section.
- Select "Mail Servers".

IMPORTANT NOTE: To prevent our
servers from being abused as a spam relay, all customers must check
email before they can send any email out. If you send outgoing email
and encounter a "Relaying Denied" message, this means that you have
not recently checked your email. Simply check for new mail, count to
5, and then resend your outgoing email. [BACK]
Q3. Is IMAP supported? Yes. Unlike POP, where email is
downloaded to your computer, IMAP leaves the email on the server. This
means that you can easily check your mail from multiple clients (ie:
home and work computers), making it much more portable than POP-based
mail.
IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that all mail stored on the server counts
towards your disk space quota. This includes mail saved in the "Sent
Items" and "sent-mail" folders! If you find yourself approaching
your disk quota, you should go through all of your folders - not just
InBox - and delete and expunge your mail. [BACK]
Q4. Can I check email from a shell account? Yes, but this feature is NOT supported. If your hosting package allows telnet/SSH access, you may check your email from your shell account by typing pine. Note that before sending out email for the first time, you MUST go to Setup->Config inside pine and change the "user-domain" field to your site's real domain name. Otherwise, you will not receive email from people who reply to your letters. [BACK]
Q5. What is a catch-all email account? A catch-all email account is a fallthrough mechanism that catches all mail that is addressed to a nonexistant account. For example, suppose you have two user accounts, John@yourdomain.com and Jane@yourdomain.com. If email is sent to Tarzan@yourdomain.com, the mail would return undelievered to the sender because Tarzan did not exist. However, with a designated catch-all email account, email addressed to Tarzan@yourdomain.com, anyname@yourdomain.com, etc. would be delivered to that recipient. Catch-all accounts are great for allowing one user to receive email for addresses such as webmaster@yourdomain.com, admin@yourdomain.com, sales@yourdomain.com, etc. [BACK]
Q6. How do I set up a catch-all email account? Go to your domain's web control panel (http://yourdomain.com/admin) and edit the email aliases of the user account that should receive catch-all email. Enter the alias @www.yourdomain.com, where yourdomain.com is the actual domain name of your web site. Note that the "www" portion of the alias is important! [BACK]
